These herring fillets are cured in a sweet vinegar flavoured with dill and onions – a classic combination that’s hugely popular in Scandinavian countries. The exceptional flavour is carried effortlessly by the dense flesh of herring, which possesses an al dente feel that’s hugely satisfying.

Dill sweet-cured herring are ideal for a starter, light lunch or seafood platter.

Herring is high in omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids, which promote good heart health, protein, vitamin D – essential for strong teeth and bones – and plenty more besides.

Packaged in a sealed tub, the dill sweet-cured herring are produced using a family recipe by Orkney Food Company of Buckie, on the Moray coast in north-east Scotland.

The herring fillets are cured, so their shelf life is much longer than that of fresh fish. Keep refrigerated between 0˚C and 4˚C and consume within 14 days of opening. Suitable for freezing.

How We Package Your Fish and Seafood

1. We vacuum pack fish portions in pairs and whole fish individually. We vacuum pack scallops in quantities of 500g. Oysters and lobsters are placed in a box. 
2. Each portion is then clearly labelled with the species, who packed it, the date it was packed and a fresh use-by date.
3. We add frozen chill packs, which contain non-toxic gel, to a polystyrene box.
4. We pack your order so the chill packs distribute the cold evenly throughout your fish and seafood, ensuring maximum freshness.
5. We seal the box with packing tape and hand it to our courier, who will deliver it to you within 24 hours.

How much does delivery cost?

From Wednesday to Friday, delivery for orders under £40 costs £4.95. Orders over £40 qualify for free delivery.

On a Saturday, delivery for orders under £100 costs £9.99. Orders over £100 qualify for free delivery.

Which courier do you use and where do you deliver to?

We work with APC Direct and deliver anywhere on the UK mainland where 24-hour delivery is available.

When do you deliver?

Our delivery days are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Due to the nature of the fresh fish supply chain and to ensure you receive the freshest possible fish and seafood at an affordable price, we do not deliver on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.

Where do you source your fish from?

Each product page clearly says where it comes from. We deal with a range of suppliers, including fish markets in north-east Scotland and reputable aquaculture businesses on the north-west coast of Scotland and in East Lothian. Freshness and quality mean everything to us and we only engage with partners who share our values.

Can you advise on the amount of fish to buy for a special occasion?
