Previous managing director George Baxter began his career in the late 1970s, working on boats in the North Sea before moving into the business side of the industry. George was managing director until May 2025 when he decided to hang up the wellies and retire.
Taking charge of Fresh Fish Daily is our current MD Andrew Menzies. Having worked for George for 16 years and most recently as Wholesale Manager. He has a vast knowledge of the business and all the different aspects of the fishing industry.
We supply a number of the finest restaurants in Scotland as well as many of the country’s best fish and chip shops.
We run a busy fishmongers in the Bruntsfield area of Edinburgh. George Hughes Fishmongers has been selling fish and seafood online to customers throughout the UK for more than 10 years. Experience has shown that once customers taste the quality of our products their loyalty quickly follows.

Ordered 1kg of salmon fillets? Then you’ll receive 1kg – minimum. If we send you 1.1kg, you won’t pay a penny extra.

Many of the fish we sell are the result of bravery, hard work and years of experience.
The journey begins with the crews of fishing boats, who work long hours in often hazardous conditions to bring back their catch.
When they return to shore the catch is then sold at the market and transported to our premises, where the fish are prepared, vacuum-sealed, packaged and delivered to your door within 24 hours.
