Description

These herring fillets are cured in a marinade of vinegar, sherry and cherry wine flavour – fresh, sweet and indulgent. The distinctive flavour is carried effortlessly by the dense flesh of herring, which possesses an al dente feel that’s hugely satisfying.

Sherry sweet-cured herring are ideal for a starter, light lunch or seafood platter.

Packaged in a sealed tub, the sherry sweet-cured herring are produced using a family recipe by Orkney Food Company of Buckie, on the Moray coast in north-east Scotland.

The herring are caught between November and January in the North Sea and the Skagerrak, the strait between northern Denmark, southeast Norway and western Sweden.

Ingredients

Cured skinless fillets of herring (44%), water, sugar, onion, sherry (3.2%), spirit vinegar, cherry wine (1.7%), salt, lactic acid, citric acid, preservative E211 (allergens in bold)

Storage

The herring fillets are cured, so their shelf life is much longer than that of fresh fish. Keep refrigerated between 0˚C and 4˚C and consume within 14 days of opening. Suitable for freezing.

How We Package Your Fish and Seafood

1. We vacuum pack fish portions in pairs and whole fish individually. Scallops are also vacuum packed, while oysters and lobsters are placed in a box. 
2. Each portion is then clearly labelled with the species, who packed it, the date it was packed and a fresh use-by date.
3. We add frozen chill packs, which contain non-toxic gel, to a polystyrene box.
4. We pack your order so the chill packs distribute the cold evenly throughout your fish and seafood, ensuring maximum freshness.
5. We seal the box with packing tape and hand it to our courier, who will deliver it to you within 24 hours.

Safety Warning

Care has been taken to remove the bones from this fish, although some may still remain.

From Wednesday to Friday, delivery for orders under £40 costs £4.95. Orders over £40 qualify for free delivery.

On a Saturday, delivery for orders under £100 costs £9.99. Orders over £100 qualify for free delivery.

We work with APC Direct and deliver anywhere on the UK mainland where 24-hour delivery is available.

Our delivery days are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Due to the nature of the fresh fish supply chain and to ensure you receive the freshest possible fish and seafood at an affordable price, we do not deliver on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.

Freshness and quality mean everything to us and we only engage with partners who share our values.
