This isn’t so much a recipe as a serving suggestion. If you’re new to oysters then this is the place to start the adventure – see what works best for you then go off-piste if you like. Before you eat the oysters, place them on a bed of crushed ice on a large plater or wide, shallow bowl – you want to serve them as chilled as possible.

Ingredients

  • 12 oysters, shucked
  • 6 lemon wedges
  • 1 bottle Tabasco
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Method

Drizzle the oysters with lemon juice and/or Tabasco, adding a little black pepper if you like.
